Our story

Hi! My name is Kay. Growing up, I experienced the simple joys of country life, and I knew I wanted that for my own family. My husband and I shared that dream, the desire to raise our kids on a farm, to give them that same connection to the land.

In 2020, we found our slice of heaven in Ballico, California. It was perfect for what we envisioned: an almond farm. The California sun, the fertile soil – it was the ideal place to put down roots.

The early days were a whirlwind. We were both working full-time jobs, and then we'd come home and dive into the demanding work of establishing the farm. Balancing those two full-time commitments was incredibly challenging. There were days we were exhausted, wondering if we’d bitten off more than we could chew. But the vision of our children growing up surrounded by open spaces, learning the value of hard work, kept us going.

It wasn't easy. Learning the intricacies of almond farming, dealing with irrigation, and navigating the unpredictable weather were all part of the steep learning curve. But every time we saw the almond blossoms in the spring, a sea of white against the blue sky, we knew it was worth it. That was one of the most rewarding moments, seeing the trees we tended to burst into life, a promise of the harvest to come. And now, seeing our two kids running through the orchard, laughing and learning, that's the real reward. This farm isn't just a business; it's our family's legacy, a testament to our dream, and the hard work and unexpected joys it took to make it a reality. 

First came the almonds, then the flowers followed suit. I never envisioned myself as a flower farmer; I always say it kind of found me. I’ve loved to grow vegetables in my garden, but never had I grown flowers until I decided in 2023 to try something new. I wanted something I could do while my kids were playing outside that brought me joy. What’s the worst that could happen? Nobody has ever complained about having too many flowers in their house.
